Does USA Use death penalty for First degree murder?

In some states, yes,but only for first degree. No, I don’t think the death penalty works because statistics have shown that it is no deterrent, and then there is the fact that some innocent people have been wrongfully convicted and executed. What’s more, poor people are more likely to end up convicted and executed because they can’t afford a decent lawyer and get stuck with an incompetent public defender. But that’s a controversial subject and you will probably get lots of angry responses from both sides of the issue.
