Does Vietnam visa start on entry or on date of approval?
The effective date will be on entry date (the date cited in the approval letter) or simply the date you arrive in Vietnam, because the approval date may be many days in advance prior to your date of arrival. From the entry date, you can delay your arrival but no longer than the duration of your whole stay approved. You are not normally allowed to enter Vietnam before the date of entry.
Visa is required for most visitors for entering Vietnam for either tourism or business purposes, however, there are exemptions with details below:
– Not more than 30 days: for citizens of Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Laos.
– Not more than 15 days: for citizens of Japan and South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Russian Federation (from 1 Jan 2009).
-French citizens holding valid diplomatic passports are exempt from visa requirements when visiting Vietnam and are allowed to stay for up 3 months at one time or on several visits within six months since their first immigration dates. Vietnamese citizens holding valid diplomatic passports also enjoy similar privileges.
– Citizens of Chile and Vietnam holding valid diplomatic or official passports from one of the two countries are exempt from needing entry, exit and transit visas in the other’s territory and are allowed to stay for up 60 days on each visit.
It is necessary to provide the exact arrival date when applying Vietnam Visa?
The answer is no, your arrival date should be the earliest estimated arrival date as you can enter and exit Vietnam (either single or multiple times up to your visa type) on any date during the validity period noted in your registered dates in your Vietnam Visa application. For example, you are going to enter Vietnam around the date from 13 to 16 December, them you should note 13 December for your arrival date as you are not allowed to enter Vietnam earlier then your noted arrival date in your visa. Vietnam Immigration Department normally approve entering one earlier but in this case, you also need to ask for your airline’s approval for your getting on board.
