Hi all I recently noticed a faster drainage of my Iphone 3GS battery (FW 3.0.1). First I thought it might be some App or so (see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2221825&tstart=0). But now I can clearly see that my battery drains only fast if I am at home within the range of my home-wifi sigal. Until a few weeks ago i used WEP encryption at home but swiched over to WPA-PSK. Since that, if connected to my home-wifi, the battery drains much faster (45 min. light usage, 5h standby: -30% against my general usage stats when not at home: 5h usage, 28h standby, -100% battery). Anyone else has noticed such a change in energy consumption between WEP an WPA?

I know for sure that WiFi consumes much less power and battery charge than mobile data transmission. Especially LTE consumes a lot of charge. They say that this is not particularly noticeable for those systems that operate in the mode of constant connection to the power supply, for example, this system. However, the situation with mobile phones is completely different. As well as enabling geolocation, enabling Wi-Fi will waste your charge, but much less.
