Does Zenphoto work with PHP Safe Mode?
The PHP Manual says this about Safe Mode: “PHP Safe Mode is an attempt to solve the shared-server security problem. It is architecturally incorrect to try to solve this problem at the PHP level, but since the alternatives at the web server and OS levels aren’t very realistic, many people, especially ISP’s, use safe mode for now.” Safe mode is generally considered bad practice for web hosts and users, as it breaks many programs and does not provide any real improvement in security. We generally recommend contacting your host to tell them you want Safe Mode disabled, then if they refuse, start looking for a new host (but that’s just what we would do). If you’re sticking where you are, you can go back to a previous version of Zenphoto that was more compatible, 1.0.3. It can be found in the files directory.
