The two companies have decided to produce the 3D ads to promote the Dreamworks movie “Monsters and Aliens”, and the Pepsi product SoBe LifeWater . The ads are set to air during the Superbowl and the companies are making the 3D viewing glasses available for free to consumers who visit SoBe LifeWater displays, or who write in to order a free pair. It remains to be seen if consumers will be willing to be pulling 3D glasses on and off during the Super Bowl . NBC has stated that people will be told when to ready their glasses, and that there will also be promotion for future Television shows in 3D. The original announcement: DreamWorks Animation will hype its upcoming “Monsters vs. Aliens” movie and Pepsi will feature its SoBe Lifewater dancing lizards in two 3D TV spots set to appear in tandem during Super Bowl XLIII. The company who actually makes the official Super Bowl 3D glasses is American Paper Optics. The company announced that with the 125 million Super Bowl 3D glasses they have reached now the astonishing 1 billion 3D paper glasses milestone. The specialized Super Bowl 3D glasses use Intel’s InTru 3D as well as the ColorCode 3-D technology. ColorCode 3-D is a patented 3-D Stereo system. It is supposedly the only system in the world to reproduce 3-dimensional images in a simple way with full color- and depth information on all display media including analogue film. The Color Code 3-D Glasses are equipped with special Amber and Blue filters. This color code technology allows viewers without the glasses to see an almost normal image on the TV screen.
