EMILY LOCKS HERSELF INSIDE A HUGE STALL. WHY SO BIG?
During the 1990s, feeling much scrutiny from the outside world to adhere to then-popular “political correctness,” Crowley High underwent a vast and dearly overpriced expansion. This was a period of much production for Crowley High; handrails were added to the notoriously slippery showers of the boys’ change room, backboards were fastened to the basketball nets, and work was beginning toward much-touted (though entirely unnecessary, at the time) wheel-chair accessibility. Unfortunately, the Crowley Liaison for the Investment of Tax Surplus decided to withdraw funding at the 11th hour, and instead put the money toward a new altar at city hall. Thus, the wheel-chair ramps were never built, even though stalls in the girls’ change room had already been expanded to meet wheel-chair size requirements.
