Well it is fairly true, because women do not select mates as much based on their looks. Many traits we consider beauty are really traits of good healthy breeding stock such as the waist to hip ratio, rosy cheeks of health, sparkly eyes etc. But when we select for women’s beauty, it also influences the looks of the males they breed. Certain traits like a small chin are seen as beautiful in women and not men, but those women also have boys with those small chins (which we consider less attractive on men, but who breed women with small chins). So our attempts at selective breeding for women’s beauty is only somewhat successful.

If you worked where I worked, you wouldn’t think women were getting more beautiful! I’m sorry but no matter how hot you might be underneath, wearing slippers, track pants and throwing unwashed hair into a pony tail is never going to be attractive!

Men don’t require beauty to be successful as much as women do. Men have to be strong rather than beautiful. So it makes sense. Although there are still loads of ugly women around, so go figure.
