Experiencing issues releasing a deferred Paypal transaction through Protx?
A. A small number of vendors have recently informed us they cannot RELEASE certain DEFERRED Paypal transactions taken through Protx. As part of our DEFERRED transaction type, we send an ORDER message to Paypal and the message returned is successful. When you attempt to RELEASE a DEFERRED transaction via the Protx system, Protx send a CAPTURE request. Please note: Unlike a normal Protx DEFERRED transaction, no shadow is placed on the customers card for a PAYPAL DEFERRED transaction. Similarly to ‘Authenticated/Registered’ transaction, a RELEASE/CAPTURE request may fail if there are insufficient funds on the shopper’s card. The reason for this is the original ORDER/DEFERRED is equivalent to a traditional one pound authorisation. Therefore as mentioned above with a successful DEFERRED/ORDER no shadow is placed on the customers card. A successful authorisation for a DEFERRED transaction only confirms the availability of funds and does not place any funds on hold. Protx recommend that you d
