However, in this case, I really don’t know how to answer your question even if I wanted to. Acting does not depend on themes. It depends on character and relationship development, on the text itself and the circumstances of the play, and on the moment by moment intentions and emotions of each character. Themes are for literary analysis and (perhaps) for directors who are planning their approach to a play. But acting is about action and emotion not about themes or motifs. Any actor who is concentration on themes is not acting – he is analyzing the play. Acting is internal. Analysis is external. An actor who is looking at his own performance from the outside is not acting.
