From Mari Rivera: How soon can i bathe our puppies after birth?
Puppies should be given a bath when they’re already four weeks old. During this time, they are capable of maintaining their own body temperature. So until they reach their first month, you should only clean your pups with wipes and then dry them with a towel. When they’re ready for bathing, you can wash them in the bathtub or the kitchen sink. Use warm water ideally between 70 and 80 degrees. Put a towel in the bottom of the tub or sink and tub and wet it with warm water. It’s best that you have someone to hold the puppy while you pour water over the body and shampoo it. First wet the body before shampooing. Remember not to include the head as the pup might lick the shampoo. After that, rinse gently with warm water and be sure not to let the pup lick the soapy water. Make sure to keep the bath short so as not to get the puppy chilled. Wrap your pup immediately in a towel and rub her. You can use a hair dryer as well set in low to dry the puppy completely.
