Furthermore, is there a good pricing model that shows the average component cost model for an independant corrugator ?
Answer Hello, Harit: There are several publications/websites to which you can subscribe that have the info you are looking for, such as Official Board Markets (www.packaging-online.com – has back issues back to May 2002), and several Paperloop companies, including RISI (www.resourceinfo.com), Paperloop (wwww.paperloop.com, Pulp & Paper Week. You may also be able to find information through industry associations like AICC (Association of Independent Corrugated Converters). I have yet to see what I would consider a “good pricing model” for corrugated components. The biggest issue I’ve encountered is exponential nature of the type, weight, and caliper of the components (i.e., the top liner could be bleached, recycled, or unbleached; range in caliper from 6 pt to 14 pt, differ in basis weight by many pounds – then add the same complexity for the bottom liner, and all the variables for the medium). Then throw in differences in price for volume, service, long term contracts, etc., and tben m
