Earlier today, an Italian judge decided three Google executives were at fault over the submission of an offensive video on Google Video Italia. The alleged violation of privacy for an autistic child seen beaten in the video was placed at the feet of Google as a content provider, and six months of (assuredly commuted) jailtime has been handed out as a result. As you can imagine, this has some far reaching repercussions on the internet as a whole. The horrendous video was first uploaded in 2006, and quickly removed after it was flagged as offensive content. In it, several delinquent students are seen bullying and beating a student with Down Syndrome. Despite the executives having nothing to do with the video besides it appearing on their site, a Down Syndrome support group called Vivi Down protested the fact that it had even been allowed to be uploaded in the first place.
