Government plans to keep DNA samples of innocent – is this just more new labour totalitarianism?
Although i do feel it is an invasion of privacy dna testing has proved a very usefull tool to catch and convict thousands of criminals.The police need to use science to secure convictions.Imagine the police wiped their databases of all dna profiles.Then a new crime is committed and they collect dna evidence from the crime scene but they do not know who the dna belongs to, they will be unable to catch the criminal until more evidence turns up. Also if say a rape is committed then the police could possibly rule out 80,000 potential suspects by running a computer program , surely you can see that it is a usefull tool , however the police are not perfect and very strong auditing of the polices use of this information is required.
Thank you for bringing this up; as an American, it is good to see what the despots and dictators have in mind for us. Just as the sun breaks over the UK hours before it does here, so do the loss of basic human rights month or years beforehand. But, sure as the sun, the day is coming when someone will try. I’ll say one thing; for myself, and a hundred million others here.. the only way they will get my DNA is to take a blood sample from my chilled corpse. Fat lot of good it will do them then, and I’ll bet that I’ll have a slabmate or two beside me that would not have been there had they not tried to take it. This is our freedom. This is our life, and those of our children. This is not a game. This is endgame. Take it back, or lose it forever.
It is time this government went Since New Labour came to power England has become almost a police state freedom of speech has been denied us. Immigration spiralling out of control we are called racists if we comment. Not allowed to demonstrate within one K. of the houses of Parliament. ID cards DNA of totally innocent people on file.They have shown themselves quite incapable of storing any computer information safely and securely. They have steadfastly ignored the wishes of the people flout every law have been a party to torture and moving prisoners around. Have lied and cheated about much much more and wonder why we do not trust them . Not to mention The Prime Ministers economic strategies they have been disastrous. He is not even elected by the people.
