Has anyone had foot numbness and swelling after ankle surgery?

0

I had ankle surgery for a torn tendon this past August and I had a lot of numbness the first 3-4 weeks after surgery. I talked to my doctor and physical therapist and they both said it was caused by the swelling I was experiencing. When my ankle would swell, the nerves would be compressed and my foot would go numb. If your brother’s injury was 20 years ago, there is a good chance he has scar tissue built up and that could be causing some of his problems. He should probably have an MRI done to rule out any further damage. If you are near Chicago, I can recommend a couple really good doctors. Hope this helps!
