Has anyone tried the South Beach Diet and lost any weight?
My Mom was on it for a while. She lost weight initially, but it was because the initial phase of that diet is very very restrictive. It cut out all carbs and sugars, and she was horrible to be around for 3 weeks thanks to that. They were slowly introduced back in, but even then she couldn’t do it because it was too restrictive. She’s had better results on her “self made diet”- she just eats lots of fruit and veg, and prefers fish and chicken to red meats most of the time. She does eat carbs now, but they tend to be in the form of sourdough bread (very low glycemic index and tastes wonderful) and brown rice. Try taking a new class or a new type of exercise if you’ve plateaued- or throw interval training in to what you’re doing now to make your body work harder than it’s used to.
