Hello I have used plates to make stones heavier ( also used lead balance weights from car wheels in a tubigrip stocking aswell – works good) A few things to consider ( please don’t think I am being patronising but as I don’t know your lrvrl of experience making stones I’ll start at the beginning) You want the mold sitting on sand, in a car tyre the sand should be higher than the edge of the tyre to keep the mold off the rim for as long as possible ( otherwise you end up with a ring set in the stone from the tyre bead) To add weight pick the suitable weight ( 5kgs , 10kgs but allow that for the space the weight takes up then there won’t be concrete there so a) won’t be as heavy as you think usually as the more you add, the more you lose too and b) you don’t want the stone unsafe with too little concrete holding it together so try to keep the weight in the centre of the stone and not too close to the outside edge of the stone) you will need to suspend the weight in the mold ( which is no
