Has Downeast LNG met with any local non-governmental groups regarding the project or economic development?

Yes. We met and spoke with the Sunrise County Economic Council (SCEC) in Machias and the Eastern Maine Development Corporation in Bangor since April 2004. We did this in an effort to identify potential communities interested in LNG, to better understand the needs of the communities, and to address the economic and community development needs for affected communities. Downeast LNG continues to have ongoing discussions with NGOs on issues including LNG development in the county; interested communities; LNG project drivers and barriers; the social, economic, and political issues that impact local communities; and how best to work with communities to generate project support.
