Has legalizing marijuana in Amsterdam adversely affected its economy?
Marijuana is not legal in Amsterdam. It is tolerated differently than the US. Amsterdam has not outlawed tobacco. There is a tobacco smoking ban voted in 2008 that I think still takes until 2011 to implement which just might weirdly leaving smoking a spliff in a coffee shoppee more tolerated than a cigarette. Cannabis was introduced to coffee shops in Amsterdam in 1976. Any chart will show a steady rise in the Amsterdam economy over the past 34 years of cannabis tolerance.
