Selective Mutism (SM) is slowly becoming a term that people vaguely recognize, yet often cannot recall where they heard it. As recognition of SM increases, it becomes newsworthy as a hot new topic of interest. Fortunately, this is beginning to spread public awareness which will hopefully result in further research and understanding of the disorder.
