Has September 11 changed the way we view people who wear a burqa or hijab?

Considering “we” as the American public, I do believe that 9/11 has changed the way people here view wearers of burqa and hijab. Unfortunately, even before the terrorist attacks on the World Trade centers there was already a discriminatory view on people who did not fit into the definition of “American”. Even the idea of the Orient or the people from the “Old Country” were viewed as the other. Perhaps, the other disadvantaged, or the other more exotic, or the other that is not us. Now, just think of wear head coverings stand in France–they are considered illegal to be worn in the public classrooms. Also, in Turkey, the hijab had brought up lots of controversies.
