Has the staff of the New Bremen Schools made pay concessions in the contract they have with the New Bremen Board of Education?
The contract between the New Bremen Teachers Association and the Board of Education expires in July 2010. The administration and the board cannot legally change the terms of the contract without the NBTA agreeing to do so. What the administration and BOE has done to contain costs, as the website outlines, is to make cost reductions of over 5% of the budget that are within the negotiated agreement. Economic conditions of the district and the area in July 2010, as well as forecasted funding balances, will determine what the next contract will look like. Both sides of the negotiating table realize this, nobody knows what those conditions will be now, but we all know we have to work with what we have, just as we have in the past.
