Has the timing belt recommendation changed from 60K to 90K on 1993 Nissan Quest?
The maintenance guide says that it should be changed at 60K but I met a mechanic who indicated that Nissan revised their recommendation to 90K. It is unusual for a mechanic not to take work and I would like to believe him. However, I would like to verify it. The mechanic I spoke with told me that the Part# is same for 1993 timeing belt and later Quest models. The scheduled change for 1993 is at 60K while 105K for the later ones. This does not make sense. A: 30,000 miles past the reccomended service interval. Your van’s valves hit the pistons if the cam belt jumps timing. HOWEVER CALIFORNIA says cars with timing belts have to make it to 100,000 miles. Risky “most” timing belts will run to that milage.
