Have Canadians overcome the problem of scarcity or do we still face it?
It is impossible to overcome the problem of scarcity. Human wants are endless, and the amount of resources available to satisfy those wants is always limited. Even were that not true, a man’s time is always scarce (no man lives forever). So, even if all available goods existed in abundance for all (an impossible condition), a man still would have to select among alternatives, e.g., going to a ball game instead of playing bridge. There is no way to get around that.
