D-Day is very important because that is the day the allies (the U.S., Great Britain, etc.) landed on the occupied coast of northern France. France had been invaded by Germany a couple of years before. Many allies were killed during the landing, but eventually, they were able to cut the German defenses. Eventually the allies regained France, Belgium, and the many other countries that had been under German occupation. The Japanese internment is a very sad day in American history. American citizens of Japanese decent were forcefully taken into prison-like camps during the war. They were feared to be spies, but most were ordinary people. Some were just kids. After 9-11 many Muslim Americans feared the same fate would happen to them. Thankfully we Americans learned our lesson concerning that issue.
