Home churches generally have no leader or leaders: are they in danger of falling into error without authority figures?
Yes, but so are organisations that are dominated by authority figures, especially if those figures are wrong. Jesus often warned against the errors that those with power could fall into, taking their followers with them. Home churches, therefore, generally prefer a search for truth that comes from wide participation. This enables them to guard against the dangers associated with power and control.
