Honeymoon In Cuba, Whats the currency like?
You will be using the Convertible Peso CUC which is for tourists. You cannot buy them outside Cuba nor do they have any value outside Cuba. You can buy them upon your arrival either at the airport or your resort. Check the site below for the value. http://www.oanda.com/convert/classic After ten visits to Cuba, my favorite resort, I’ve been there 5 times and judging from the number of repeat visiters I have met there gives high marks is Sol Melia Rio Lunas y Mares.. You fly into Holguin and it is about an hour by comfortable bus to Guardalavaca where the resorts are located. Luna y Mares is fantastic, a beautiful white sand powder beach, good dining, excellent friendly staff and lots to do that is included at no extra cost. Check the sites below for more info and check trip advisor for the reviews by other tourists. wherever you go rest assured you wil have a wonderful time and please check the site below for what you can
As Riki said, the CUC peso is tied to the US dollar, Cuba also has their local currency (peso) but it is not used by tourists, all your transactions will be in CUC. My recommendation for resorts is to check into a five star hotel in Cuba, 4 stars are good but the quality of the food may not be to your liking. I have stayed at the four star hotels in Cuba (Sol Rio, Blas) and have really enjoyed my stay but if I was going on my honeymoon I would definately play it safe and stay at a hotel where I know that the accomandations and food is excellent. Rio Oro, Playa Pesquero, the resorts on Santa Maria are excellent. I have visited Rio and Playa and my neighbors just came back from Santa Maria and they loved it. I know that you will love Cuba and its people, the island is beautiful and so undeveloped! Make sure to get out of the resort and tour around – we rented a moped for a day and it was my favourite day of our entire trip…have fun and good luck with the wedding!
