well they work off radar of one type or anther radar send out a signal and times how long it was gone when working right radar Reade's 0 mph if shot at ur Vehicle from the side like ur car is the top of a T and radar unit is at bottom and increases to correct reading when it is shot at u straight on like ---| so if ur in the far left lane and the cameras are on the right shoulder ur speed will be read a little slower than u are actually traveling 2 maybe 3 mph depending how wide the shoulder is and how many lanes ur over from the unit just pay attention there signs posted slow down 1/2 mile before u get to where the cameras actually are when u get out of camera angel gas on it have u ever noticed those speed enforced by aircraft in this area they are just put there to slow people down it takes 3 actions to enforce speed from above air plane chase cars and pavement marking and u will not see those big white marks on the side or across the lanes there  more

• Yes. Even though speed camera calibration can be faulty, you are being too wary and causing possible problems by holding up other drivers. Your speedometer might also over-read by as much as 10 per cent.  more
