how addictive is cocaine?

Actually its not a bad question. While cocaine can be quite psycologically addictive, lowly nicotine has been shown to be way more physically addictive. There are alot of knee jerk reactions and urban myths about cocaine. Alot of work needs to be done on how to handle recreational drugs usage. We need to approach it from a scientific and health orientation. Not a political and criminal one. I undertand and feel for Hep and Hep’s friend. Some people just cannot control themselves with unfortunate results. But it can be looked at another way as well. What about the 30 year old policeman with a wife and 3 kids that gets shot dead in a drug bust? If recreational drugs where legal or decriminalzed, that bust would not exist because it would not be a crime. I’m not saying drug use is good, or risk free. What I’m saying is that the way we are handling it is causeing more harm than good, AND its not stopping drug use in the slightest.

Once having tried cocaine, a user cannot predict or control the extent to which he or she will continue to use the drug. Don’t try it!

I agree with both previous answers… but from life experience, if I could some how get in touch with my friend of 30 plus years, he’d say “Forget about it…” But I can’t… he died from cocaine overdose 10 years ago… autopsy showed his physical heart exploded in his chest… for real… So perhaps “how addictive” should not be our question… a better question may be “How do I avoid being yet another victim…

It is very addictive, many people could tell how they lost everything because of their addiction. Women get into prostitution to feed their habits and men go into debt so far they rob from anyone often ending up in prison. They alienate their families and friends and it is a pretty ugly ending. Eric Clapton said he regrets ever writing the song about it now because he doesn’t want it on his conscience realizing just how destructive it is in peoples lives. So don’t listen to anyone that says it’s not addicting.

the first couple times it isn’t addictive at all; the more you use it, the more your body needs it. once you’re using it regularly, your body with go into shock without it in your system.
