It is believed that Shakespeare probably attended the local grammar school in Stratford on Avon, where he would have had an intensive education mostly in Latin and Greek, which was what grammar schools mostly taught in those days, plus a little mathematics and music. Schools did sometimes put on plays in Greek and Latin, I am not sure if this is what you mean by attending school for theatre. We don't really know why Shakespeare decided to go to London, or how he became an actor and playwright, we only know that he did. There were no schools to train people to be actors in those days, he would have learnt as he went along. Boys might be apprenticed as actors, they usually played women's parts to start with, but Shakespeare would have been a bit old for this by the time he went to London. There is no evidence whatsoever that Shakespeare's father wanted him to be a doctor. His father would most probably have wanted his son to follow him in his own trade, which was a glover.  more
