How are mediastinal tumors diagnosed?
Mediastinal tumor treatment depends on whether or not the tumor is cancerous, its stage, and your overall health. After taking all of these factors into consideration, your surgeon may recommend: • Surgery; • Minimally invasive procedures; • Chemotherapy (drugs used to stop the growth of cancer cells) and/or radiation (high-energy x rays or other types of radiation used to destroy cancer cells) and/or surgery; • Chemotherapy and/or radiation after surgery; or • Chemotherapy and/or radiation before and after surgery.
