At a maximum height of 38″, they are smaller than ponies. And their conformation is that of a horse, only in miniature. Sometimes miniature horses are born deformed. Why? There is a dwarf gene in the miniature horse breed. Even with the most careful breeding, you can get one. I have had one dwarf. After that I did not do the same breeding (same mare with same stallion) and haven’t had another one. What happens to dwarf miniature horses?
