So basically they’re using synchronous or asynchronous replication so that they constantly have a copy of their data offsite. This way, they don’t have to do a restore when they’re in a DR situation. They simply have to switch whichever copy of the data that they are using. Can you discuss the pros and cons of synchronous replication vs. asynchronous replication? It’s not so much pros and cons as it is that each one is appropriate for a different application. Synchronous replication is meant to have the updated copy continuously, completely up to date.
