Foster-Miller developed a snake-like robot for the purpose of cleaning the interiors of nuclear reactors. CECIL uses his pressure water jets to clean the sludge out from around the rods. This system has been around for nearly 20 years, and has been used in both conventional nuclear power plants and Navy ship-board nuclear plants.
