How are the characters alike in Romeo and Juliet & West Side Story?
Their both tragic love stories… In Romeo and Juliet, the Montagues and Capulets have been rival families for generations, and can not bear it when their offspring fall in love with each other. They forbid the young lovers to be together, and death ensues. Likewise, in West Side Story, the Jets and the Sharks are rival gangs, and cannot bear it when the leader Shark’s sister and the leader of the Jets fall in love with each other. It builds to a huge fight scene, and death ensues. It’s been years since I’ve read/seen either, so I don’t know names of the characters, but that’s it in a nutshell.
