How are the San Jose Giants viewed in Minor League Baseball?
A. Baseball America honored the San Jose Giants in 2009 and 1990 with the Class “A” Bob Freitas Award. The Freitas Awards are presented annually to one team at the Triple-A, Double-A, Class-A and Short-Season levels. They are named after the late Bob Freitas, a long-time minor league operator, promoter and ambassador who passed away in 1989. Clubs are considered for the award based on a sustained display of excellence, including steady attendance, long-term consistency and contribution to the surrounding community. It marks the second time in franchise history that the San Jose Giants have won the Freitas Award as the club also claimed the top honor after the 1990 season.
