How are the Toronto Blue Jays part of American Baseball League?

I’ve never heard of the American Baseball League. However, if you’re referring to the American League of Major League Baseball, it’s got nothing to do with what country the team is from. If that was the case, there’d be no need for AL or NL as all teams with the exception of the Jays are American teams. It’s basically the same concept as having the American Football League and Nationl Football Conference in the NFL. It makes for good playoff seasons when you have the best of both leagues against each other rather than the top 8 of the same league against each other.
