How biased is Google News?
Today I wanted to look up some news on the Vlaams Blok. Google News is a great site to find many news articles, but I was a little dismayed when the first news link to VB was from a source called the World Socialist, and naturally the article was strongly anti-nationalist. Another news source I’ve seen Google employ several times is the Black Information Link. Google claims to have over 4500 sources of news, and to use a computer algorithm to sift through them. But they use human intellect to choose which sources of news to add to their database. I had never even heard of World Socialist or Blank Info Link before. How lucky for them to be members of the club. Most sources are local TV and newspapers from around the world. But some are on the fringe … and it seems only fringe sites on the left are invited.
