How Blue Spruce Publishing Got Its Name?
While driving to California in May of 1991, Rosemary Augustine (at the time a resident of Colorado) realized she wanted to write books, and wanted to be the publisher. While searching for a name, she wanted something indicative of Colorado and early enough in the alphabet to be found in the phone book. The Blue Spruce is the Colorado state tree, hence the name Blue Spruce Publishing. Benefits of Being The Author and The Publisher? As author and publisher you wear many hats. As the author, you promote your work, speaking and selling books in a variety of settings. However, when working with bookstores or organizations requesting an appearance and needing to order books, the publisher hat goes on.
