How bug are clothes moths?
The moths are just ordinary little brown moths not more than half an inch across.There is no need to worry every time you see a small brown moth however. Clothes moths have a very distinctive fluttery flight unlike most other moths, almost as if they were using their wings to help them to do big jumps. It is not the moths themselves that do the damage but the larvae from their eggs when they hatch. So if you just moved into your apartment there would hardly have been time for the damage to have occurred there. By the time you have seen the damage the larvae will have gone, so don’t worry. The moths like to lay their eggs on real wool, so if you want to be quite sure your woolens are safe pop them into plastic bags before you store them. Clothes moths are much less common than they used to be as there are far fewer clothes made of wool People use to put “moth balls” among their clothes, but they smelled dreadful. Many scented plants such a southernwood and cinnamon bark will deter moths
