How can a law office manager ensure that all lawyers have complied with the rule?
Law office management can ensure compliance with the first and third parts of the rule – making a plan, and retaining it for 5 years – by requiring that lawyers provide a copy of the plan. There are two ways to make the declaration: in the annual Member Information Update Form (due 15 March each year) or online at www.CPDalberta.ca, anytime. The latter is confirmed by an e-mail to the member. Either way, the declaration is documented. 7. One of the lawyers in my office refuses to use a computer. LESA can provide hard-copy versions of the online tools for those uncomfortable with working online, although the ease and interactivity of the online tools will be lost.
