How can a tooth get infected? Do antibiotics help?
When tooth decay is deep enough and reaches the inner pulpal tissue where the nerve and blood vessels present, an infection occurs. Tooth infection can be acute or chronic. The usual symptoms of tooth infection include spontaneously pain, pain that wakes you up at night, can’t bite on the tooth even a gum blister or swelling cheek. It is usually recommended to use some antibiotics to control acute tooth infection. Once it is under control, proper procedure should be carried out to clear the infection inside the tooth, to chemically sterilize the canal systems and to permanently restore the tooth, i.e. the root canal treatment.
