How can BMW be diverted from landfill?
We need to reduce the amount of municipal solid waste we produce and we need to divert more of it away from landfill sites. We can do this by re-using, recycling, composting and recovering energy from waste. The figures below show that even though the amount of municipal solid waste produced in Wales has increased since the baseline year of 2000/01 it is now starting to decrease. Improvements in local authority recycling schemes and the implementation of LAS have reduced the amount and proporition of waste being sent to landfill by local authorities in Wales.
