To calculate its Gregorian calendar equivalent, just add 88. For example, Japanese Heisei year 1 is ’89 (1989), year 5 is 93 (1993), year 10 is 98 (1998), year 12 is 2000 and year 14 is 2002. For Showa year, just add 25. For Example, Showa 60 is 85 (1985) and Showa 63 is 1988 and so on.
