How can I find out if my child has Angelman Syndrome?
As Angelman Syndrome is a rare disorder, it is not always known about in the general medical community. Some individuals with Angelman Syndrome are misdiagnosed as having autism, pervasive developmental disorder, or cerebral palsy. If an individual fits the diagnostic criteria, testing for AS is recommended. More accurate diagnostic testing means diagnosis for AS can be determined in the majority of cases from a DNA test.
