Error messages generated by the ArcIMS Spatial Server or the ArcIMS Application Server can be checked in the log files. The ArcIMS Spatial Server log files can be found on Windows at \Server\log and at $AIMSHOME/log on UNIX. The ArcIMS Application Server log file is called AppServerStatus.log and can be found on Windows at \AppServer and at $AIMSHOME/Middleware/Application_Server on UNIX.
