How can i get into brown university?
In all honesty, if you’re almost half way through high school and are an A/B student, you better plan on Brown for grad school. Brown will take 11% of applicants this year and those that are not top football players or underprivileged minorities will be straight A students all through high school. Brown rejects 70% of kids who get perfect math and CR scores on the SATs (better chance if you get 800 on both)! It’s super competitive like the other ivy league schools.
Take a couple of higher level classes if you aren’t already. It shows you love learning and challenging yourself. You DO NOT need to get the “AP diploma” or whatever they call it in AP (my school has IB), only do classes you feel somewhat comfortable in, and can get at least a B in. The person who said “get all A’s” is false. Many applicants with perfect grades have been turned down by ivy league and prestigious schools. But getting good grades is important yes. Your extracirriculars seem ok, a sport and journalism. DO NOT join every imaginable club, colleges hate “resume stackers”, regardless if you are the president of every club on campus, have a few extra cirriculars you are interested in and stick with them, and try to get a leadership role. Volunteer if you can, at one place and return their often.
