how can i have better posture if i have scoliosis?”
Scoliosis is always associated with imbalances (in length, strength, thickness) of muscles in the back and elsewhere. These asymmetries pull the spine and pelvis out of natural alignment. First you need to find out how your pelvis and spine are misaligned, with the aid of a physical therapist, ideally one trained in spine problems and particularly the Schroth method of scoliosis treatment. The first step is to tilt and shift the pelvis into its natural position, so it’s not rotated or laterally shifted. Then you can focus on strengthening and lengthening exercises for the spine. When you become conciously aware of the wrong posture you’ve developed, you can correct many of the bad habits (slouching, shifted pelvis, etc) and relieve pain fairly quickly. Typically you can halt progression of the abnormal curvatures, and can often reverse the curves somewhat. Search the web on “Schroth method” and you will find studies on the method and therapists who practice it.
