How can I help my daughter to see that her boyfriend is a waste of space?
I had a similar problem with my daughter when she was 15yrs and had a boy friend of 33yrs. I kid you not! I invited him home to meet him and was polite and friendly. I got the message. I knew I couldn’t get her to dump him even though I suspected he was using her for sex. Her mother wanted to come on strong about it but I said if she did our daughter would resent it and probably run away from home. This is what I said to my daughter. “I know you say you love him but there will be a time when I know he will let you down but I’m not going to tell you how because you won’t believe me. Just know your mum and I will be there for you when it happens. And if you are having sex, please use a contraceptive yourself. Don’t rely on any man to do this himself” In the mean time I kept a close eye on things. Later in time my daughter came to me in tears. This bloke was not only humiliating her by making sexual references about other women, he was also married. She thanked me for not putting pressure
