I have the same sort of problem. I am more of a sprinter, but we do dumb long distance sets that I hate, and I don’t know what to do for the next hour. I try to work on my stroke, but then it’s like I don’t make the time. uggh. It’s very frustrating. Anyway, back to your question. I know you said you work on your technique a lot, so try to focus on it when you are doing longer distance sets. For example, if you’re doing 6X500s: focus on something different for each 500. you should also come into practice everyday with a goal in mind that you want to work on. You have to get your stroke perfected when you are moving slower. When you sprint, you may feel like you are throwing all of your technique out the window and just sort of flailing your arms. You want to have high elbows, and really extend forward. Act like there is a rope in front of you that you want to grab a pull forward with. Also make sure you have lots of body roll, and lots of kick, too. You should be looking straight down
