How can i link the sociological perspectives of religion to social work?
I don’t think religion is a sociological perspective – though there are sociological perspectives on religion. That said there are many links between social work and religion. Certainly respecting and using a person’s religion as a part of helping them link to services and support is an important part of practice. Religion also provides an historical link to the development of social work. Social workers also work in most religious based human services including schools, hospitals, social services and even programs in criminal justice environments. Social workers must understand religion as a system and individual religions as organizations are an important part of the framework for community and therefore and important part of where social workers work.
